Preparing for the Tests
The content knowledge assessed on the ICTS tests is described in the test frameworks, which are sets of objectives/standards on which the tests are based. Test frameworks are available by selecting "Test Frameworks" on the ICTS Web site.
Study guides for all of the ICTS tests are available online by selecting "Study Guides" on the ICTS Web site. These guides are designed to help you prepare for the tests. Single copies of study guides may also be obtained (see "Contact Information").
ICTS Basic Skills Diagnostic Practice Test
The ICTS Basic Skills Diagnostic Practice Test is available online. The diagnostic practice test program is free of charge and contains a full-length practice test designed to simulate the ICTS Basic Skills test. The diagnostic practice test program offers a tutorial providing instructions on how to use and navigate through the practice test. It also offers automated scoring of the multiple-choice questions and correct-answer explanations.
You may download this computer-administered diagnostic practice test program for the Basic Skills test at the ICTS Web site by selecting "Basic Skills Diagnostic Practice Test." For individuals who do not wish to, or are not able to, download this program, a paper-based version of the practice test is also provided as a PDF file on the ICTS Web site.
CBT Tutorial Preview
Candidates taking a computer-based test are given an on-screen tutorial at the test center before taking the test. The tutorial demonstrates how to navigate through the test, how to indicate answers, and how to use the features of a computer-based test. A tutorial preview that provides sample screens from this tutorial is available by selecting "CBT Tutorial Preview" on the ICTS Web site.
